“They are doing something to kill the whole ecosystem…” “…They have all this cash. They could kill everybody.” “Maybe they think they need to do something aggressive to compete with Apple and not rely on brands like Acer, …It is a dilemma.” Some OEM’s are realizing that Microsoft are DEADLY serious about getting into the hardware business. JT Wang correctly realizes that in many ways, the success of the Surface might mean pain for Acer. Source]]>

oh man… i can’t hear this anymore…
acer, do sth better than the microsoft surface and people will buy it!
I agree. If Microsoft didn’t make Surface we’d have a bunch of the same old type of tablets we’ve been having. There would probably be a bunch of tablets that looked like their Android versions but with Windows 8. Actually Acer is doing that with the Iconia W series. Make something that’s cool and people will buy it, make a Windows tablet that looks like your Android tablet but with a different OS and you might fail.
he needs help
Go suck on a giant pacifier, Wang. Microsoft doesn’t do anything pedestrian anymore, so why would they want to rely on builders who create uninspired products on the cheap? Having previously purchased an Acer gaming laptop, I can completely fathom Microsoft’s disenchantment with builders. I’m still waiting to be wowed by any manufacturer’s announced product that can even compete with only the bits and pieces of released info on the Microsoft Surface. Put up, or shut up Wang. Mostly we want you to shut up.
He must ust shut-up and build better, attractive hardware for consumers
acer has always built lower end devices, so JT it is time to shut up or put up and build a better device, then the buying public will buty your device and nobody elses.
acer ultrabooks are actually quite good quality
Surface is the best looking and best engineered tablet I’ve seen so far. If anyone had something better, we would see it by now. Lenovo’s Yoga is the only other product I would buy if they priced it right.
To paraphrase Harry Truman about Washington, DC:
