Retail giant Amazon has just updated its Kindle App, and version 2.0.0.1 brings with it Windows Phone 8 compatibility. This new flavor offers all the features of the application to users of Microsoft’s mobile platform.
The app provides users with access to Amazon’s impressive catalog of over 1 million ebooks straight from their smartphones, tablets, and mobile devices.
Windows Phone users will not only be able to purchase Kindle books from the Kindle Store and read them on the handsets, but also enjoy syncing features across different devices. As Amazon explains:
“Amazon Whispersync technology automatically syncs your eBooks across apps, so you can start reading a book on your Windows Phone 8, and pick up where you left off on another device with the Kindle app installed.”
Both the iOS and Android platforms have been getting most attention from Amazon when it comes to apps, but Windows Phone platform is finally getting some necessary notice.
I say necessary notice because even though the app is updated and finally supports Windows Phone 8, a lot of users of the refreshed version have reported issues — from crashing to even launching the application.
Apparently (see what I did there) Amazon will need to take a look at its code and revise it to remove these issues. However, as noted by some users, it is best to do a clean install instead of updating from the previous versions to save the trouble.
