Great Big War Game has only made a grand total of – wait for it – $84 in its first week in the Windows Store. As a matter of pure fact, he went on to say that Windows RT is simply born to fail. Ouch. The developer decided to port one of their games to Windows RT, and the bill for porting the game to Windows 8 came in at $16,000 — a substantial investment. It goes without saying that Rubicon does not want to work with Microsoft again in the future. Not just due to slow sales, but also apparently because of lack of support shown from the Redmond giant:
“Microsoft on the other hand clearly do not value us at all. Even whilst there’s almost nothing to promote, they will not feature our title for bizarre admin reasons. And this is whilst their store is empty and they need developers like us to fill their store far more than developers like us need them to pay us £50 a week”.He says that Apple, Android even RIM regularly featured and promoted their apps, which ultimately leads to better sales. But Microsoft is on another planet altogether when it comes to Windows Store:
“If other developers get this treatment, that store is going to look mighty bleak for a long time to come. Please take this as a warning. I know I sound bitter and twisted and there’s a reason for that – I actually am. We have wasted a lot of time, resources and money on supporting this platform and all that happened was we got spat on”.Oh, by the way, the game is exclusively available on ARM devices, and retails for $2.99. Too bad he has to complain, rant and rave rather than offer Microsoft constructive criticism and helpful solutions to his problem. I’d also hate to promote someone’s product who acts like that! He sounds like he has issues…….
Well his rant spread like fire, and Microsoft actually took notice.
Too bad. No one bought his game. But it can’t be the store’s problem. Did he pay for the promotion? Even radio ad. costs money and I don’t think he expects to get free promotion. If he paid and MS doesn’t promote his product, then it’s MS fault. Otherwise, I can’t seem to understand why he blast the store.
