Adobe may be going cloud for future versions of its retail software, but its app offerings on iOS and Android have also enjoyed good success. And the company has brought its Photoshop Express tool to Windows 8 just now.
The app offers support for all sorts of basic image editing like crop, rotation, flip, brightness, expose and shadows control, vibrancy and more. One touch filters also make the cut.
The short and small official description:
“On-the-go photo editing was never so fun, fast, and cool. Touch your way to better-looking pictures with automatic fixes and filters. Get your pictures to pop! And after sharing, you’ll be the talk of your friends.”
Users can also upload their files to Adobe Revel and get the ability to sync them across devices. Some of the advanced tools can also be unlocked via purchase of additional packs.
The Windows Store already houses some very impressive image editing apps — and most offer more features than what Adobe has packed in this one. It remains to be what kind of an impact this app manages against some very tough competition on this platform.
It does, however, have the Adobe brand recognition behind it, and there is a chance that the company will regularly update this app with more advanced features down the road.
Adobe Photoshop Express is completely touch optimized, and makes good use of the Metro UI of Microsoft’s newest platform. The free application can be installed on both Windows 8 and Windows RT.
