There isn’t much to say that has not been said about the Halo franchise. After tearing up the sales charts on consoles, the game recently made an appearance on the Windows Store.
Microsoft released Halo: Spartan Assault a month or so back for Windows 8, but the company did not offer a trial version — leaving users no other option than to purchase a full license to play the game. And sure as daylight, countless users did.
And now the company has released a freeware version of the game that goes by the name of Halo: Spartan Assault Lite, with the aim of providing users a chance to try out the game free of cost.
Before we get to the nitty-gritty, here is the official description:
“Halo: Spartan Assault Lite launches you straight onto the battlefield during the opening battle of the full Halo: Spartan Assault campaign and provides an exciting introduction to the gameplay and story of the full version of Halo: Spartan Assault.
This free trial includes the first of 30 missions available in the full version of Halo: Spartan Assault, where you’ll take command of classic Halo weapons to fight classic Halo enemies but all from a brand new, touch-based perspective.”
As mentioned above, this free game comprises of 30 missions from the start of the campaign, and is a pretty good way to get a glimpse of things before buying the popular full version of the game. The full version is obviously also up for grabs, and as popular as it can be.
No comments needed for the top notch visual and audio presentation, either.
And just as you would expect, the game comes with support for both Windows 8 and Windows RT, meaning Surface RT owners can play it without a hitch.

“leaving users no other option than to purchase a full license to play the game” for how much? $7.00. Mountains from molehills. Is that the job of the press?
