Coding a quality BitTorrent client is not exactly the easiest thing in the world. Coding one for Windows 8 is ever so slightly harder. And this is the reason why only a few are available on the Windows Store.
But the number keeps continuously increasing, and Windows 8 users now have several choices that work rather well, both on desktops as well as tablets.
One of the newest torrent apps that have reached the Store is Torrex. It offers the ability to run silently in the background, and handle the downloading process without affecting system performance.
The official description does a good job of describing the basic functions:
“Torrex is the only modern BitTorrent client with ability to work in background, stream video and audio playback. Using our application you can download any torrents and magnet links and start viewing media content in the built-in media player without waiting for the download completion.”
The app is offered free of charge, and has already raked up a good number of downloads backed up by a great rating. It is developed by the same guys behind the popular Metro Commander, so expect a similarly simple design and UI. But the app nails it on the features front.
Torrex can be used on Windows RT just as well as it can be used on Windows 8, meaning Surface RT users can download and install it straight away.
