While there are countless YouTube apps for Windows 8, fans of Vimeo (the video sharing website) have rather limited options when it comes to watching Vimeo clips from the comfort of the Modern UI on their Windows 8 devices.
There are just a handful of Metro apps available on the Windows Store for this purpose.
But one of the finest choices is VimeoRT — a free solution that does a splendid job of bringing the website to Windows 8 and Windows RT users. The popular and feature rich app is regularly updated, each one bringing with it a number of improvements.
Before we get to that, here is a look at the official description:
“Your favorite video platform, formatted for your favorite OS. VimeoRT is the Vimeo app built by a Vimeo user for Vimeo users.”
The latest version released earlier today brings a new ‘Like’ section on the hub page that offers users the ability to view all their liked videos once they sign in. Additionally, it now offers enhanced support for the Windows 8 Share Charm, that makes sharing favorite videos with friends and contacts a breeze.
VimeoRT is offered with as a free download — however, in-app ads are displayed throughout the interface, which can actually be removed via a paid upgrade.
And despite its rather curious name, VimeoRT can be installed on both Windows 8 and Windows RT computers as it supports all version of Microsoft’s newest operating system.
