Call it whatever you want, but when it comes to high profile releases, games are currently outnumbering apps and tools on the Windows Store by a significant number.
Maybe it is the fact that game development is a lengthier process than coding a standard app, or the point that developers are waiting for Windows 8.1 to unleash their creations. But either way, there is no reason to complain — gaming on Windows 8 is kicking into the next gear.
One of the finest games to arrive on the Windows Store is Zombie Driver HD. This is undoubtedly one of the best looking games on the platform, and the gameplay is just as engaging.
The official description:
“Insane mix of cars, speed, explosions, blood and zombies! Fight through an epic narrative campaign or test yourself in the Slaughter and Blood Race modes. Engage huge bosses, save survivors, drive crazy vehicles such as a bulldozer, fire truck or even a tank and smash everything in your way.
Take part in the Blood Race tournament – chase other cars and take them down without mercy on brutal racing tracks. Jump into the Slaughter mode and survive as long as possible on specially crafted arenas.”
Zombie Drive HD retails for $9.99 — and a 1-day free trial is available. The price may just be a tad on the high side of things, but the game offers several modes, a serviceable story, voice overs, crisp visuals and an upgrade system that lets users improve the various aspects of their car.
The game is not available for ARM processors though, meaning Windows RT and Surface RT users are out of luck. And it requires a reasonably powerful system for the x86 and x64 processors, but almost any modern PC (save for Atom tablets) should be able to handle it.
