Apple have openly declared war on all PC’s both Windows and Mac and they aren’t being shy about it.
“There is cannibalization clearly of the Mac by the iPad, but we continue to believe there is much more cannibalization of Windows PCs by the iPad,” Apple CEO Tim Cook told analysts and media listening to the call, “and there’s many more of them to cannibalize. And so we love that trend.”
The software juggernaut is sitting pretty after the release of their latest financials for the quarter.
Apple’s revenue for its fiscal 2012 first quarter topped $46.33 billion, with a net profit of $13.06 billion. Quarterly iPad sales hit 15.43 million units.
This entire story reveals the danger that Microsoft is in re: their competitor Apple.
The demand for Apple products continue to soar and even more troubling for Microsoft – demand in emerging markets like China is massive.
Consider this fact – Apple have 5 stores in mainland China and have plans to build approximately 20 to 25 more.
Analysts are estimating the demand could support up to 100 stores easily.
Windows 8 is increasingly becoming more critical to Microsoft. In the light of Apple’s strong numbers, strong market demand and innovative move into education, Microsoft cannot afford to release anything less than a stellar product this year.
