The age of Windows 10 S is upon us. Microsoft promised that a whole array of affordable laptops powered by this new version of the operating system will soon be released by OEMs.

And now we have confirmation that the ASUS VivoBook W202 has landed.

This makes it the first such devices from the company, and comes right after Lenovo made official two models. And now ASUS has made its device available for purchase in the US — for the sweet, sweet price of $279.

Sure, you can’t expect blockbusting specifications at this price point.

But here’s what you get:

  • Processor: 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron N3350
  • RAM: 4GB of RAM
  • Storage: 64GB
  • Screen: 11.6-inch anti-glare display
  • Resolution: 1366 x 768
  • Connectivity: 2 USB 2.1 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 SD Card reader
  • Battery Life: Up to 11 hours

Pretty solid.

At the end of the day, the ASUS VivoBook W202 seems to be a well-built machine. The official site lists the product as sporting a three-piece modular design with a 180° hinge that the company says will facilitate maintenance.

Add in the rubber-lined edges and corners, along with an ergonomic spill-resistant keyboard, and you have a device that does little wrong, when it comes to hardware design.

ASUS has also promised to launch a Windows 10 Home version of the VivoBook W202 next month, and it is set to be priced at $299. Which is, again, a steal, if all you want to do is basic office and school tasks like browsing, working with documents and all that fun stuff.
