Second Tuesday of the month can only mean one thing. Patch Tuesday! Things are late into the month this time, but a whole bunch of fixes and updates are now flying off Microsoft servers.
These include patches for all supported versions of the Windows operating system.
The three most recent and by that token, fully supported versions of Windows 10, are all getting the same updates. That’s because version 2004, 20H2, and 21H1 are all built on the same codebase, and the update brings them up to builds 19041.1165, 19042.1165, and 19043.1165 respectively.

Additionally, the same update will also begin rolling out to Release Preview ring Insiders, who are currently testing version 21H2, another enablement package that is expected to be released later this year.
Those of you still rocking Windows 10 version 1909 Enterprise, Education, or IoT Enterprise SKUs will be served KB5005031 that bumps up the version to build 18363.1734.
The remaining versions of the current OS, namely version 1809, 1607, and 1507, are on the Long Term Servicing Channel, and they have their own releases in the form of KB5005030, KB5005043, and KB5005040, respectively.
Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 also get a little love, at least the eligible devices for the former, via the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program.
While Windows 10 has received cumulative updates, these two old versions are in line to get monthly rollup packages and security-only updates. Both can be downloaded from the Update Catalog manually, but only the monthly updates can be installed via Windows Update.
All these patches and updates primarily fix security issues in the operating system, while bringing a variety of general improvements.
