The folks over at AV-TEST are at it again. The independent German security institute has performed a new study to determine the best antivirus for Windows 10 business users.
And the enterprise results have almost no surprises, with the big names leading the pack once again.
Big names like Bitdefender Endpoint Security, Kaspersky Endpoint Security and Small Office Security, all got the maximum 18 points, as did Trend Micro Office Scan. These solutions delivered flawless performance in each of the three tests for protection, performance, and usability.
Here are the standings:
What’s surprising here is the performance of Windows Defender, the baseline solution Microsoft designed for its operating system, which has improved by leaps and bounds in recent times.
It got an overall score of 17.5 points out of the maximum 18, and is listed in good company alongside programs like Bitdefender Endpoint Security Elite, Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, Symantec Endpoint Protection and Endpoint Protection Cloud.
Windows Defender has come a long way.
A long way.
In fact, the only test where it faltered a bit is in performance, where it surprisingly managed 5.5 points. But 6 points for protection and usability both, ensure that it stands as one of the best security products around.
At least in this research.
Furthermore, it blocked 100% of the 0-day and already known forms of malware, and only generated a minor slowdown on systems where it was activated. It also offered no false alarms and warnings when visiting websites, and generated no false positives for legitimate software during system scans.
Good going, Windows Defender!
