Business Oriented Lenovo ThinkPad Helix Delayed to March or April

Back at CES 2013, Lenovo unveiled its newest Windows 8-powered convertible tablet, the ThinkPad Helix. This attractive business device was supposed to arrive sometime this month and had a lot to offer. Unfortunately, it has now been pushed back until March or even April.
No specific reasons were given for the delay. Still, if you are considering a Windows 8 laptop with business in mind that can also double as an everyday driver for regular home use, this could be worthy of the wait.

There was a time when IBM ThinkPads were coveted as some of the “best” business machines out there. While this might not be as true today, Lenovo’s ThinkPads still are some of the best out there.

What does the 11.6-inch ThinkPad Helix bring to the table? Unlike other convertibles, it has a unique 180-degree flip and can then snap back into the base. As Lenovo says, “ this mode, called Stand mode, transforms Helix into a mini-movie theatre orbusiness presentation central. From here, users can also fold the screen down to use it as a tablet while keeping the base connected for added ports and connectivity.” That said, it isn’t the only tablet out there that can separate from its “laptop base”.
Beyond its unique convertible/hybrid attributes, it is a solid device with great specs, including some of the best battery life you’ll find in a Core i7 laptop, at around 10 hours when the screen and keyboard are together. The rest of the specs include a Intel Core i7 processor, up to 8GB of Ram and up to 256GB SSD.

So what’s the downside? As you can imagine, this doesn’t come cheap, STARTING at $1,499 and going up from there. What’s nice about the Lenovo ThinkPad Helix though is that it continues the IBM/Lenovo traditional design elements while still providing modern technology like a touchscreen and the ability to split itself into a tablet.

Bottom-line is that if you are looking for a tablet that can truly replace both your laptop and desktop, this is certainly one of the options out there that is worthy of your consideration.
