But Redmond leveraged the situation well enough with the recently released Windows 8.1 Update, making this new version mandatory for users — that is, if they wanted future update release. End users are end users, but businesses have several other considerations to make before deploying updates like these. Besides, many had trouble downloading Windows 8.1 Update from the WSUS, short for Windows Server Update Services. Now while, consumers still have until the next month (May Patch Tuesday, actually) to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Update, Microsoft has announced that business users are getting an extra 90 days. So this makes it a 120 day window for them, as this post confirms:
“As we’ve been monitoring the release, we’ve been actively discussing this new approach to servicing with enterprise customers and listening to their feedback regarding managing the deployment timeline. As a result, we’ve decided to extend the timeframe for enterprise customers to deploy these new product updates from 30 to 120 days.”Pretty neat timeline, considering businesses have to make special preparations for processes like these, and upgrades are inherently more complex for companies, than they are for consumers. True story. Microsoft has, just for the record, fixed most of the connectivity issues that were reported by users trying to download Windows 8.1 Update, so if you are yet to do so, no better time than now to try.]]>

Considering how big of a user base Business users are for Microsoft, it’s definitely a good idea to keep them happy. Smart and simple move.
I guess a little extension just for these customer class is no big deal
If anyone deserves an extension, it’s business users. I hope they realize how important they are to Microsoft and appreciate the effort Microsoft gives to them.
