Another week, another new Microsoft Surface clone! This time Chinese PC maker Chuwi is the one doing the heavy lifting, with Chuwi CoreBook set to go live on crowdfunding website Indiegogo.
The company is known for offering super affordable yet highly functional models that rival the design and feature set of the more expensive products. This is Chuwi taking the fight to Apple and Microsoft, with a 2-in-1 that aims to bring premium experience to users.
First, let’s see the device in action:
Slick.
As for specifications, you can expect a 13.3-inch Full HD screen featuring an OGS fully laminated panel that the company says not only reduces reflections, but also improves image quality. Underneath it sits a 7th generation Intel Core M processor that is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
4K hardware decoding comes built in, along with a pen that offers 1024 levels of pressure.
Chuwi has even integrated a fingerprint sensor that the company calls Touch ID, similar to what Apple has made available on its hardware — trademark infringement be damned.
To top it all off, the company has equipped the CoreBook with a keyboard that integrates a kickstand for easy adjustments. The device also comes with a capacious 37Wh battery that supports fast charging for quick and effortless recharges.
All that said, although everything looks good on paper, Chuwi plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign on November 15 to raise money for the project and make it a reality. Remains to be seen just how successful that goes, but judging by previous initiatives, there is a chance that this will be a success.
And begin mass production in just a few months.
