The (technology) world is about to change in just a few short weeks now. With Windows 8.1 fast approaching general availability, a slew of Windows powered tablets are on the horizon.
Many vendors like Toshiba, Lenovo and friends have announced their upcoming devices.
And while Dell also has announced newer laptop and PC models for the year, its tablet lineup has been missing from the spotlight so far. The company did unveil a brand new slate under its resurrected Venue brand earlier this month at IDF.
But there have been some doubts about the company’s plans for the Windows RT platform in the near and foreseeable future. Well, some newly leaked information may quell them — the company reportedly plans to release no less than three Windows 8 slates.
CEO Michael Dell recently stated in an interview that more tablets are set to be announced by the company in the coming weeks, and he may have been referring to the October 2 event in New York where Dell is planning to talk more about its tablet plans.
And now some leaked information has floated up that suggests that Dell is ready to unveil not one or two, but three Windows 8 tablets, meaning along with the aforementioned 8-inch slate, two 10.8-inch models are also in the pipeline.
Specifications have also been provided for the three devices. The 8-inch model will pack an Intel Bay Trail CPU with 2GB of memory and a screen resolution of 1280 by 800. Office Home and Student 2013 will be bundled with this model.
Onto the 10.8-inch models, we find that the first model is powered by a Qualcomm ARM processor, again with 2GB of RAM. This time, however, the screen resolution gets bumped up to 1920 by 1080. Battery life of this device is said to be in the 10 hours range.
The second 10.8-incher also comes with the same display resolution and battery life numbers.
Only this one is powered by an Intel Bay Trail processor, paired with 2GB of memory and 64GB storage. Impressively, 4G and LTE connectivity is also on offer on this model.
Again, these are early rumors, but we should have official confirmation on this soon.
