alternate browser. Anyway, the IE team disclosed this in an AMA session on Reddit, explaining that everyone is busy working to make Internet Explorer better on Windows. Which means, no current plans for iOS or Android:
“Right now, we’re focused on building a great mobile browser for Windows Phone and have made some great progress lately. So, no current plans for Android/iOS. We are committed to improving our own engine. We love the fact that the web was built on multiple competing (yet interoperable) platforms and believe that this is how it is going to move forward into the future!”There you have it. Obviously, porting Internet Explorer to iOS and Android (and doing a good job of it) could help Microsoft negate the negative perception that affects some of its software these days. But then again, the company believes that there is a lot of merit in keeping a few goodies exclusive to users of its platforms, Windows and Windows Phone. What do you think? Are Internet Explorer iOS and Android ports worth a try?]]>

I’d be more interested to know how this rumor got started. MS never had any interest in the port, so who started this. It is a glaring example of the effects of copy/paste (journalism, no scratch that) blogging.
I don’t buy this. Seems like a Microsoft spin. For one, they shouldn’t have any interest in developing IE for droid or iOS. But secondly, I don’t think there’s really a high demand for those software developers or users to have IE added.
People are looking for IE on other platforms, especially for browsing to sites that only seem to work with IE. I think Microsoft should release all it’s software for all platforms, then when it gets popular do them like other developers do Windows and Phones. Just got a couple years and don’t even update that particular version.
Couldn’t agree more. If people are asking for it, take advantage of that. It’s the best business decision.
IE is a service that is not making any money. They probably should concentrate porting other money making software to iOS or Android.
