The company recently announced the compatibility of its PC power management software with the latest version of Windows desktop and server platforms — Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. This new version supports both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft’s OS. EMCO Remote Shutdown is utility that brings automatic shutdowns and Wake-on-LAN (WOL) functionalities to computers on a local network. Network administrators can use the software to shut down, wake up, reboot, activate hibernation, locking and unlocking input devices on the remote PCs, even displaying a text message and more. All operations can also be executed manually if the need arises. Thorarinn Oskarsson, the CEO of EMCO Software announced the news:

“The latest version of the application supports all Windows versions starting from Windows XP and offers the same functionality on all Windows platforms. Network administrators can execute shutdown, wake-up and other types of supported remote operations on all network PCs regardless of the Windows versions installed on them. The application’s user interface is also the same and doesn’t depend on the version of Windows installed on PCs where the application is started. Network administrators can use the same modern Ribbon UI to work with the application on all supported platforms.”
Remote Shutdown works as a Windows service, allowing network administrators to schedule tasks automatically with no interaction. A trial version is available on the company’s official website, which can be used for 30 days to manage up to 25 remote computers.]]>
