There are times when impossible is nothing, but in this instance it really is something. I am obviously referring to the sight of seeing Bill Gates leaving Microsoft, which for many is utterly impossible.
And this is exactly the opinion of an expert who believes that it is nearly impossible to see him go.
Rumors that some top Microsoft shareholders are pressuring co-founder and key figure Gates to give up his chairman seat have been reported in the media. And if the cat is out of the bag, one can only imagine what sorts of corporate activism is going on behind the scenes.
But even though Gates is currently the biggest shareholder of the company, he is also an influential figure behind the curtains. And for Ed Lazowska, a professor of computer science at the University of Washington, he remains the key figure.
In an interview with the New York Times, the expert shared his view on things:
“It’s impossible to walk away from something that you have shaped and led to that extent, and with which you are so personally identified. I think there’s zero chance that he disengages — if anything, I bet he engages more.”
As for the man himself, he has not said a word on these murmurings up until now.
Bill Gates is part of the special committee tasked with finalizing a new CEO to lead the Redmond Empire. He, along with outgoing head Steve Ballmer, is seeking a seat at the board, and according to people close to the matter, both men are almost sure to get reelected.
