Flip no longer on board? Microsoft announced the arrival of the Flipboard app for its platform with appropriate fanfare all those years back, but now is the time to say goodbye.

And that’s because the company has decided to give up on the mobile OS, abandoned Microsoft’s mobile platform, and has chosen to focus on Android and iOS instead.

Nothing too surprising, considering the recent lack of momentum from Windows Phone.

A Flipboard community manager responded to an inquiry on the Windows 10 Mobile version of the app, explaining that not only is the platform no longer supported now, but she does not think that it will be in the near future.

As a matter of pure fact, Flipboard is no longer available for download from the Windows Store.

The app still works on devices where it has been installed, but the company has confirmed that no updates would be provided for Flipboard in the future. Worse yet, if the app is removed from a Windows phone, it will be gone forever

With no possibility of bringing it back.

For the record, Flipboard landed on Windows Phones some 4 years back, as a preinstalled application on the dazzling Nokia Lumia 1020. A number of other Windows Phones that carried the Lumia logo also featured the app as a default, preinstalled option.

Nevertheless, all good things that have a start have an end.

This is it for Flipboard.
