Good. Can’t be too cautious. Microsoft reopened its Redmond campus partially this week to provide its employees in the Puget Sound area with more flexibility.
Following up on that, the company had planned to fully reopen its headquarters on July 6.
However, that has been now delayed.
In a note sent to employees, the head of Corporate Strategy Kurt DelBene at Microsoft has revealed that the company has now chosen September 7 as the new reopening date for its Redmond campus. The two months delay will give flexibility for employees to make summer plans.
The software titan has said that it would continue to monitor the situation after choosing the date of July 6 as the earliest date for a full reopening of its Redmond campus.
And with the worldwide coronavirus pandemic far from being over, the company previously unveiled a Hybrid Workplace Dial detailing the six stages of the hybrid workspace for this global coronavirus health crisis.
The company is currently at stage 4, which is a soft open, where employees are still encouraged to work remotely. Stage 6, of course, being the full opening.
Microsoft currently employees over 57,000 people in the Puget Sound area, and is currently in the middle of a massive rearchitecting effort of its Redmond campus that is estimated to take 5 to 7 years to complete.
This construction project is expected to lead to the creation of 2.5 million square feet of new office space.
