The Halo franchise is without doubt one of the most prized asset for Microsoft. The popular action game played a major role in making the original Xbox console a success, and future installments tore up the Xbox 360 sales charts.
Microsoft recently brought a new title in the series, titled Halo: Spartan Assault, on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. And as expected, the game is already enjoying terrific success on the Windows Store after quickly shooting up the rankings.
Currently, it is the fourth most popular game in the paid games category — with thousands of ratings and hundreds of reviews.
Halo: Spartan Assault offers a very appealing package with 25 levels, and a number of weapons, vehicles and armor abilities. Weekly challenges and Xbox Live support for online leaderboards is also included.
The app description published on the Windows Store details it best:
“Halo: Spartan Assault brings the excitement of Halo combat to touch-based devices for the very first time. Battle your way through 25 action-packed missions against the Covenant as you explore the origin of the Spartan Ops program and Halo 4’s Spartan Commander, Sarah Palmer.”
Angry Birds Star Wars remains the leader of the pack, and is followed by Reckless Racing Ultimate and Bejeweled Live. All these other titles, however, landed on the Windows Store a long time back, making Halo: Spartan Assault an even impressive bona fide success.
