Microsoft has recently unleashed Windows 8.1, and the new operating system comes with enough hype to stir interest not just in touch capable devices but also traditional desktop PCs.
As a result, hardware makers around the globe are said to be very optimistic. Many of them are now confident that Windows 8.1 will succeed. While the core Windows 8 was said to be a new frontier for OEMs, this time around several notable names are ready to go in with a number of new devices.
According to this report, companies like Acer, Asus, MSI and Sony are betting big on the new operating system with new products expected to hit the store shelves in the weeks and months to come.
Among the names above, Asus in particular is reported to have placed an initial order for a total of 400,000 T100 Transformer Book with SSDs and running Windows 8.1 — a sign that the company expects much better sales figures this time around.
Coupled with the usual suspects like Lenovo, HP, Dell and Toshiba and Microsoft’s own hardware efforts, the Windows ecosystem could potentially be heading for exponential expansion.
Windows 8.1 packs in a long list of improvements, with Microsoft promising that the new OS not only addresses most of the consumer complaints it received after the launch of the vanilla Windows 8, but also comes with new features that make it a great solution for both PCs and tablets.

Great. I expect to see significant growth in 8.x over the next year and a half or so. In crease demand for PC devices is good for all of us. I’m really looking forward to what comes next between 8.1 and 9.
Wait one minute! I was just reading how all the hardware vendors see MS as a competitor and were switching to android? The next thing you know steams founder is going to say 8.1 is go for the gaming industry! I guess I’ll have to start questioning what I read 🙂
