Hardware Makers In Japan, Korea Show Heightened Interest In Windows

report claims that hardware makes are interested in developing 8 and 10 inch devices for these two important Asian markets, as sales of Windows tablets have gone up from 3 percent to 15 percent in just a few months. That’s a pretty significant increase, any way you look at it. Fivefold increase! While the smaller 8-inch segment of the market is for the time being catered to by other vendors, there have been hints that Microsoft is developing a smaller Surface tablet. The company has, on multiple occasions, said that it wants to expand its Surface family of devices. With BUILD 2014 just a furlong away, we just might get some more pointers on what Redmond is planning for this. A smaller tablet will make a ton of sense for Microsoft and for consumers, surely.]]>

  • Microsoft needs a 8-inch Surface tablet. I hate these rumors about Microsoft condemning or giving up on hardware after releasing office for iPad.

  • No doubt about it. Great news for the company. It’s not surprising considering how great 8.1 is and how Asia is probably realizing it’s better than Apple.

  • Microsoft has taken way too long to get into the smaller tablet market. They made a mistake in killing off Nokia devices. It would give them the chance to have devices at multiple price points
