Since a screen is the biggest drain on your laptop or tablet battery, Windows 10 automatically turns it off after a set period of time when the device is not in use.
You can, of course, modify this setting, specifying anywhere between a few minutes to several hours. Or even prevent the operating system from turning off your display altogether. All this can easily be accomplished from the Settings app.

Here’s how to change when your screen turns off in Windows 10.

1. Fire up the Settings app.

2. Go to System, and then Power & sleep.

3. You will see two options listed here, Screen and Sleep, each with drop down menus with durations for when your device is on battery power, and when it is plugged in. The first set modifies when your screen turns off, and the next one specifies when it goes in standby mode.

4. Make your changes, and close the window.
