Color management is the controlled conversion of the color representation of different devices. In other words, how hardware like monitors, TVs, scanners, digital cameras, printers display colors.

Windows 10, just like previous versions of the operating system, comes with some very comprehensive color management capabilities built right in. These can be accessed from the Control Panel, where you can manage your devices and the profiles associated with them.

It’s not for novices, certainly.

But if you do design work or would like your display and printers to output the most accurate colors, you will have to tinker a little in this panel to get what you want.

This is how you can do color management in Windows 10.

1. Open Control Panel.

2. With the Icons view enabled, double-click to open the Color Management panel.

3. You can now select your device, like the display or printer for example, and then associate your chosen profile for use with it. This can be done via the Add… button, and you can also set your profile as default here.
