restarted sales of Windows 7 PCs, leading some to believe that the vendors giving higher priority to the old OS due to slow uptake of Microsoft’s modern platform. Now, however, HP has put up a blog post clearing its stance — it is only selling Windows 7 PCs because it wants to give consumers more choices when it comes to deciding on a device. It is not dropping Windows 8 as some may have thought:
“Whether you’ve been reading the tech news blogs – or just saw an ad on our HP Shopping page, you’ve probably been asking yourself, ‘Why is HP selling Windows 7 PCs in a Windows 8 world?’ The answer is dead simple: Choice. We like giving our customers the option to get the computer that’s right for them.”The computer that is right for them, being the key phrase here. Anyway, the company reminds everyone that it also offers an Android option on some devices, and it plans on offering a full spectrum of OS choices, Windows 7 and Windows 8 included:
“And, yes, some people still want to run Windows 7 on their computers. We want people to be happy with our computers – whichever option they choose – BUT WE ARE NOT DROPPING WINDOWS 8.”Well, there you have it, folks. HP has recently released a bunch of new models, and while on the onset it seems that the company is not all that active when it comes to Windows tablets, it does offer some nice hybrids and touch enabled Windows 8.1 devices, desktop and laptops. But with the retirement of Windows XP looming, the popular vendor probably does not want to miss out on businesses and users that are looking to migrate to Windows 7 hardware.]]>

As I pointed out before, they are looked like trying to dump all their old hardware while people are interested in win7 and before MS is going to announce win9 in April. If win7 is really more popular than win8, they don’t need to reduce the price by $150. Don’t you think their marketing department is sleeping and will throw away $150 profit per machine?
I really don’t understand selling something for cheaper that has “popular demand”
