Making your presence felt in the crowded mobile space can be really difficult, as competition is cut throat. With the launch of the much hyped Windows 7 mobile Operating System, things have drastically changed as this opens up a new platform for established mobile manufacturers to exploit. HTC has done just that with the announcement of its all new handset the HTC 7 Trophy that will be based on the latest Windows 7 Mobile platform. The handset is slated to be released this winter and will compete within the premium mobile segment.

The main highlight of this phone is the smooth 3.8 inch S-LCD capacitive touch-screen; with support for 16 Million colors. The trophy’s 3.8 touch screen will possess a massive display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which is on par with the LG E900 Optimus 7 and the Samsung I8700 Omnia 7. The device also sports an accelerometer sensor for UI auto rotate, multi touch input method and proximity sensor for auto turn off for enhanced viewing display.

When HTC decided on the Trophy, it very well knew the amount of competition it will be facing. Keeping this in mind, HTC has crammed the device with a whole host of network and connectivity options that just speaks volumes about the power this little device. It supports quad band 2G network of GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 and 3G HSDPA 900/ 2100. Connectivity wise, it has all the usual features such as Class 10 GPRS and EDGE and WI-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and HSDPA for high speed internet connectivity. For data transfers microUSB v2.0 (cable-based) and Bluetooth v2.1 (wireless) are present. Apart from these, the HTC Trophy also supports a built in GPS navigation system that comes preloaded with all the maps.

One of the best features in the phone is its camera. Although HTC usually make excellent multimedia phones, but most times they are left wanting in terms of a good camera. The Trophy changes all of that as it sports a quality 5 mega pixel HD camera that can shoot pictures at a maximum resolution of 2560х1920 pixels and videos at 720p. The device doesn’t have a secondary camera, therefore no video conferencing. The main facets of the camera include LED flash, auto focus; face detection and geo tagging support. Unlike other HTC phones, the device boasts good music quality along with support extended for all the popular audio and video formats.
