I need your help to establish Windows 7 sales in the Fortune 500

So here’s the deal.

My buddy Marc and I made a bet a year or more ago and I need your help to make my $500.

He basically bet that by the summer of 2011, I would not be able to name 10 (just ten) companies in the Fortune 500 who are officially using or seriously considering using Windows 7.

By seriously considering, he meant testing business units or organizational divisions on it.

I blogged about this here a little while ago but haven’t been able to make any headway.

I emailed Microsoft and their response was..

“Thank you for your call earlier this afternoon. Unfortunately, we don’t break out our statistics this way, but please do see the Windows for your Business blog where you can find a steady stream of customer evidence about Windows 7. Please let me know if I can be of further help here.”

So, I need your help!

Here’s the list of companies in the Fortune 500.

If you work in any of these companies and have Windows 7 officially installed, please do me a favor.

ANONYMOUSLY use the comment form below (with a fake email address) and tell me Company Name and whether you have deployed Windows 7 or are just testing.

THANK YOU!

Good luck with your winning your bet.

Microsoft is still claiming SharePoint Server as the fastest growing product in company history, which is very impressive coming from such a diversified software maker powerhouse.

According to Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) one in two corporations are now using SharePoint Server and in 22% of the companies, every employee uses this popular Microsoft collaboration tool. SharePoint usage is widely spread due to its complex collaboration structure and its flexibility. From enterprise search, enterprise content management (ECM), Business Process Management, business intelligence, records management, archiving, Intranet/Extranet, file sharing to public-facing websites, which will be covered in this article.

Below you will find a list of few Fortune 500 companies using SharePoint technology for their public-facing websites. This review is trying to highlight the adoption of SharePoint in the corporate world as well as the customization level these companies accomplished.

Finding corporate websites with interesting designs in Fortune 500 and on SharePoint platform proved to be a challenge. If I missed any company that meets the above criteria feel free to add it in the comment area.

And they list around 15 or 20 TOP corporations that are using SharePoint as part of their public facing web site; i.e. they’re using Windows 7/Server 08 as their OS!!!

  • Ford Motor Co is currently looking at upgrading windows XP in stages as the 3 year leases expire – Also looking at moving to Laptop for some areas as standard. since we use windows & Dell PC/Laptop & Vista is already history. I understand the new system on limited trial in some countries & already “tuned” to internal software systems is Windows 7.

  • I would suspect that Dow Chemical in Midland MI and Nationwide Insurance in Columbus OH have tested it. I would suspect that Dow would do a PC refresh with Windows 7.

  • Well i m an IT Engineer and i work for IBM where we have been given training on Win 7 and my personal experience is quite good with 7 its easy to understand for networking purpose i think it has best features apart 4m in terms of advanced graphics 10 on 10 coz it has got features like mac.
however feature like bit locker group policy n free security essential should be given to home users like home premium and starter .
And BCD (boot configuration data) system file should have the entry of xp so that any user can degrade easily or else keep both os and can work in nt 52 and 60 both structres . hope 7 will come up with more reformation keep it up.
