On Monday, Microsoft is expected to introduce a tablet computer of its own design that runs a new version of its Windows operating system, according to people with knowledge of Microsoft’s plans who declined to be identified discussing confidential matters. It is the first time in the company’s 37-year history that it will offer a computer of its own creation. The device is aimed squarely at Apple’s blockbuster iPad, which has begun to threaten Microsoft’s hegemony in the computer business. From TheWrap:
Microsoft is set to unveil a tablet next week that will mark its entry into rival Apple’s territory with its own branded product, TheWrap has learned. The company has scheduled a secretive event for Monday at 3:30 p.m. June 18 in Los Angeles, where it will make a “major” announcement whose nature has not been disclosed. Even the venue has not yet been announced. But an individual with knowledge of the company said that Microsoft would introduce a Microsoft-manufactured tablet at the event, marking a foray into a new hardware category that would put the company in direct competition with giant rival Apple. And on and on they go. Now this is (finally) exciting… Stay tuned for the latest Windows 8 News here…]]>

this will make all the OEM’s really happy for sure!
I feel for HTC. their two tabs never got off the ground even with the scribe pen which was cool. Even though their name is synonymous with quality no green light.
I think the problem is more android than the actual hardware itself. I used to have a HTC desire HD, the phone was great, but android ruined a lot of the experience for me.
it all depends on the user. and with marketing not only HTC but Microsoft and many Windows fans will be marketing every quality Windows tab and phone. HTC was the first OEM to make a Windows Phone.
Yep, it’s a Windows 8 tablet series called Surface. It comes in an ARM version and an Intel i5 version that runs Windows 8 Pro. Looks pretty damn nice! If I had known these were coming, I would not have just bought four Samsung Series 7 Slates for my company.
