It’s the second Tuesday of the month, and you know what that means! The June 2022 Patch Tuesday updates are in the house, and they aim to refresh the whole array of Microsoft software and platforms.

The company has shipped a range of cumulative updates for its operating systems, including its latest and greatest, Windows 11.

For this OS, the update you are looking for goes by as KB5014697, and its main focus is addressing the newest vulnerabilities that the company has become aware of. Redmond says that this patch contains miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality.

Nice and simple.

When it comes to non-security improvements, this new update comes with all the changes that were part of the optional release dated May 24 and is available as KB5014019.

Its primary deal was the debut of the Windows Spotlight feature on the desktop, which allows users to have their desktop wallpapers automatically changed based on the popular service. This was previously available exclusively on the lock screen.

You also have a ton of updates for the various versions of Windows 10 — the active versions of the OS, that is to say. Microsoft has made it clear that this older operating system will continue to be supported until October 2025.

These updates are being distributed under KB5014699, bumping up their respective builds to 19042.1766, 19043.1766, and 19044.1766.

The major highlight of the release is fixing a number of security issues with Windows 10.

Redmond has also released Patch Tuesday updates for the June 2022 cycle for both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, as KB5014742 and KB5014746 respectively. These patches bring improvements to the operating systems, though they also contain some known issues that may bother you.

All these updates are being rolled out via Windows Update. You don’t need to take any action to deploy them, as they are downloaded and installed automatically.

Standalone packages are also conveniently available if you want to install the updates on offline systems from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
