Major Windows 8 App Update Rolled Out

Apps are in, they really are. Microsoft may have been slow off the mark when it comes to the apps, but ever since the company hopped on the bandwagon, it continues to improve the apps it offers.

In fact, Redmond has updated its pre-installed Windows 8 on multiple occasions since release, while at the same time promising even more, frequent updates to the core Windows 8 apps.

The newest ones to receive an update include Maps, Travel and News, Sports, Finance and more.

Each of these apps has received new content and features, along with a helpful sprinkling of bug fixes, and all are now available for download in the Windows Store.

The essential Travel app, for instance, gets a “Nearby” feature that can find hotels and destinations close to a specified place, or in current locations. Hotel booking services also expand to more countries, along with a “Favorites” option to maintain lists of destinations, articles and hotels to help in trip planning.

Speaking of favorites, the fan-favorite Sports app meanwhile comes with improved and in-depth coverage of live NBA and cricket games. Not to mention new soccer, tennis and rugby competitions.

Microsoft has also updated a whole bunch of gaming apps in this round.

All new versions are ready and rearing to be downloaded via the integrated Windows Store, so make sure you check out the updates section to treat yourself to these new updates.
