The second Tuesday of any given month means only one thing. It is the time when Microsoft releases updates and security fixe for its range of software and operating systems, and this month is no different.

The May Patch Tuesday update cycle is now in full swing, and it brings with it a whole bunch of stuff.

As far as Windows 11 21H2 is concerned, the designated update for the latest OS version is KB5013943. Installing it will upgrade your operating system to build 22000.675, and the Windows 11 service stack will also be bumped to build 22000.52.

The highlight of this release is that it addresses a number of security issues for the operating system, you know, all that under-the-hood stuff.

There are rather noteworthy known issues with this update that system administrators need to be aware of before deployment. It involves hiccups with the recovery discs, such as CDs or DVDs created using the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) app in the Control Panel, not being able to start.

Redmond is aware of this problem and is working on a resolution that will be included in an upcoming release.

The standalone link to manually download the update is available on Microsoft Update Catalog here, while the official release notes for it are available for your reading pleasure here.

Likewise, Microsoft has also released updates for older versions of its operating system, both the modern Windows 8.1 and still reliable Windows 7. They both come with a few fixes and the usual splattering of known issues.

They both can be downloaded manually or through Windows Update.
