Metro Apps In Windows 8.1 Update 1 Get Multi-Window Previews

reported that after deploying this update, Windows 8.1 displays multi-window previews on the taskbar for Metro apps. This is particularly handy for Metro apps that support more than one panels, as is the case with the Mail tool. You can get a better idea of how this works in the image above. These previews are very similar to those that are displayed for traditional desktop software programs, and this neat new addition ensures a smooth integration of Metro apps on the desktop when Microsoft gets around to it in Windows 9. The next full version of Windows is said to come with the ability to run Metro apps right on the desktop, without first going to the Start Screen. And it couldn’t be here sooner!]]>

  • I think this sounds and looks like a good thing, but I’m not exactly sure what Metro Apps are. Can someone give me an explanation?

    • I believe Metro Apps are simply touch-screen friendly apps specifically made for Windows, but I’m not 100% sure.

    • Windows 8 comes with an app store that you could download apps. Apps are software. There are utility apps, news apps, games apps, social apps, etc. Metro apps are not only for touch screen. Because of fat fingers, traditional desktop programs are not easy to use by touch. However, metro apps are designed for touch. But using mouse and keyboard are totally fine because you could use your mouse to point and click just like your finger.
