The displays, along with the premium build quality of the tablets, are two things that have won plaudits for the first generation Surface slates. But now Microsoft seems to upping the ante in the second generation tablets.
Redmond plans to unleash its second generation Surface slates at an event in New York on September 23. And although the company has not provided much technical details (expectedly) regarding the hardware, it turns out Microsoft is planning to install a full HD (1080p) display on the Surface RT.
DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim, talking to CNET revealed the expected improvements on the display side of things in the second generation Surface slates:
“What we’re seeing is that it’s 1920×1080.”
This little improvement should better equip the Surface RT to compete against the various other iOS and Android tablets that are set to swarm the market in the weeks to come.
And an increased display resolution should also improve the productivity aspects of the Surface RT slate, an area that Microsoft so very often likes to talk about with regards to its branded tablet.
File this as a rumor for now — even if it comes from a very reliable source. But an improvement like this is pretty much a given considering the upgraded processing and graphical capabilities of the upcoming Windows RT tablet.
