Finally some action! Microsoft has put up the newly announced Lumia 640 up for preorder in the Old Continent, after confirmation that the new handset would hit store shelves sometimes in April.
The company introduced the Lumia 640 and 640 XL at MWC 2015 earlier this month.
Fans can now preorder the device, with prices set at €159 outright, which translates to $172. Several authorized retailers have listed the handset on their websites, and even Microsoft have put the smartphone up for grabs on its official online stores.
Stores like Microsoft Store UK, which offers the device for £169.99, or €236.
Microsoft Store France, on the other hands has the dual SIM Lumia 640XL smartphone available for the sweet price of just €179 off contract. Microsoft Store Germany offers the Lumia 640 LTE for €159 outright, which is more re less the best price you can find.
As reported here, the handset is priced differently across Europe, and these prices have got to do with the varying shipping costs and taxation rates that are in placed in different countries.
And likewise, the launch dates of the smartphone also vary.
In the UK it is set to go on sale on April 7, while buyers in France and Germany can get their hands on the new phone starting April 16.
The budget friendly smartphone comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 720p resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating. It is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, with 1GB of RAM and 8G of expandable internal memory.
It also ships with Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Denim out of the box, with the possibility of upgrading it to Windows 10 for Phones later this year.
