The new flagship, it is being said, will be here come summer 2015. It arrives with a 5-inch 1080p display that features Gorilla Glass 4, which again, it not available right now. A 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor handles processing duties, alongside 3GB of RAM. Quite enough to separate it from the Lumia 930. Which actually comes with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon chip. In terms of the camera, expect one of the best on smartphones. An advanced 24 megapixel rear camera to go with a 5 megapixel front option is likely to be offered. The rear camera is expected to offer 4K recording capabilities at 60fps. Impressive. The Lumia 940 is said to be just 1 mm thicker than its predecessor, according to the above leak, with a weight of just 149 grams, compared to the 167 grams of the Lumia 930. Releasing a phone like that today would gain you market share. By next year, the phone will be considered the bottom end of comparable flagship phones.
Exactly, Microsoft really isn’t cutting edge in terms of hardware specifications for its flagship smartphones these days. Except for the camera quality, that is.
Maybe they need to take the Samsung approach, and design two flagships every year. But just make sure they put in some advanced chips in them. In an ideal world, Microsoft would be designing the chips too.
Qualcomm processors on all flagships is a bit too cookie cutter.
