Windows 8.1 preview version is set to make its official debut soon, and Microsoft seems confident that user interest in its new operating system will be very high.

And in order to make sure everybody will be able to check out its latest hardware and software products, the company has decided to embrace the “store within a store” concept. Redmond has recently signed a deal with both Best Buy and Future Shop.

The technology titan explained:

“The stores within Best Buy will range in size from 1,500 square feet to 2,200 square feet and will be the premier destination for consumers to see, try, compare and purchase a range of products and accessories.”

Microsoft will open mini stores in over 500 Best Buy locations in the United States, along with 100 Best Buy and Future Shop locations in Canada to sell PCs and tablets powered by Windows. Microsoft Office, Windows Phone devices, Xbox and accessories will also be available for consumers.

The preview build of Windows 8.1 should be heading our way in just a week or so.

Redmond is gearing up to release the preview version of the new operating system on the first day of the BUILD developer conference set to take place in San Francisco this year. June 26 could also reportedly see the unveiling of the second generation Microsoft Surface tablet.
