Now, technically, all Windows bugs are weird. But this one was weirder. And scary. It involved the corruption of the drive, with the OS asking you to reboot the system to fix it.
First noticed when a certain location was accessed via the Command Prompt or a browser, the bug in question occurred when you ran the change directory command in the above terminal with a specific location.
And as reported, Windows threw out a warning that the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable, recommending you to reboot the machine with the Check Disk utility to fix the drive. This happened even for users with low privilege access to the NTFS volume.
Well, long story short, Microsoft has quietly fixed this bug — at least in the latest preview build.
The issue still lingers in other versions of the operating system, but the newly released Windows 10 Insider Preview build 21322 takes it out of the equation. This build was pushed last week, and does not allow users to access the problematic location.

Worth a mention that other vendors and companies are trying to block access to the problematic location from their end. For instance, Mozilla Firefox 85.0.1 has a check that disables access to these specific locations in the system.
Fortunately, bugs like these are not dangerous in most cases. But it’s going to take a while before the software titan fixes this pesky little issue on all versions of the OS.
