China is apparently not the only market Microsoft is looking to aggressively expand its business. The Redmond based technology titan has big plans for Europe too.

And to bring them to fruition, the company is ready to construct a new office building in Germany.

Reports suggest that this new building is all set to become the company’s second largest facility in the Old Continent. Microsoft wants to expand business across Germany, and for this reason it has been working together with Colliers International München for the last 18 months.

The firm has been advising Microsoft regarding the choice of location of the new building.

Anyway, the 26,000 square meter building will be located in Parkstadt Schwabing, and construction of this new site is ready to begin in early 2014. If all goes according to plan, the new office building should be completed by the summer of 2016.

Once it is up, it will be the second largest Microsoft office building in Europe, after the one in Paris. This purposed new office will house some 1,800 employees, and provide them with topnotch facilities, everything from a canteen to a fitness room.

With Finland set to become Microsoft’s hub for mobile, and the company’s investments in cloud in China, this new German office could well become a center for research and development of enterprise software. Either way, this new construction is a significant investment from the technology titan.
