On what is sure to be a glorious day for programmers, Microsoft has officially released .NET Core 2.0, as well as Visual Studio 2017 version 15.3 to go with it.
It was barely three months back that the company released the very first preview of .NET Core 2.0, marking it as an improved platform for developers to code their solutions on. And now we have confirmation that it has reached its final release.
Redmond shared the good news in a blog post.
The major takeaways being that .NET Core 2.0 adds support for Linux binary archives, as well as the runtime package store. It also finally separates portable and standalone executables, and removes the need for OpenSSL on OSX.
In addition to that, the software titan has made available portable binary archives for all platforms, and also included support for Linux Arm builds, and Windows Arm32 and Arm64 builds.
Getting back to Visual Studio 2017 version 15.3, which was also released today, this latest iteration adds support for .NET Core 2.0. As does Visual Studio for Mac version 7.1.
