Of all Microsoft products and services, Bing probably had the smoothest of years. The search engine not only maintained its position of strength by adding new features, but even managed notable growth.
To celebrate an amazing year, the Bing team has thanked its user base, while at the same time promised more insights and highlights into the various new features it has added to the popular search engine. And what would a celebration be without an Infographic?
In a post on the official Bing blog, Microsoft said:
“Over the past twelve months, we have shipped thousands of changes to the search experience which are directly based on how you use Bing. From minor updates like downloadable homepage images to major changes like powering Smart Search in Windows 8.1 and voice search in Xbox One, none of this would have been possible without your engagement and feedback.”
An interesting claim towards the end subtly underlines the growth — Bing was the only major search engine to have more monthly searches towards the end of the year than it did at the start.
In simpler terms, both Google and Yahoo dipped a bit, the slightest of bits, this year.
You can also check out an amazing new (and creatively clever) Infographic here. It goes over many of the statistics and advances the search engine made in 2013. Brilliant.
