Microsoft continues its tradition of bundling up and releasing cumulative updates for its enterprise products. The latest to get this treatment is Exchange Server 2013 RTM.
It was just a couple of weeks back when SQL Server 2012 received such an update.
And now Redmond has just announced the availability of the first Cumulative Update for Exchange Server 2013 RTM, which includes a collection of bug fixes and updates that Microsoft recommends should be deployed as soon as possible.
As is evident, this new download represents a full build of the product, meaning it can easily be used to deploy a new server completely without the need of downloading any other files.
This is explained in a blog post by the software titan:
“Unlike previous versions, cumulative updates do not use the rollup infrastructure; cumulative updates are actually full builds of the product, meaning that when you want to deploy a new server, you simply use the latest cumulative update build available and do not necessarily need to apply additional Exchange Server updates”.
As for the list of enhancements and updates, the published release notes show a long list of improvements and fixes — everything from Mailbox size increases to Mail flow and compliance.
The notes also provide details on setup and deployment instructions for sever administrators that are seeking enhanced performance as well as better stability for their Exchange Server 2013 installations.
