Service Agreement focuses on three important parts — privacy, transparency and simplicity. And these tweaks are important considering just how much Redmond accuses Google of using consumer data to run ads, and calls on the US government for more transparency. This is what the new terms state about user privacy, for instance:
“As part of our ongoing commitment to respecting your privacy, we have updated the Microsoft Services Agreement to state that we do not use what you say in email, chat, video calls, or voice mail to target advertising to you. Nor do we use your documents, photos, or other personal files to target advertising to you.”Simple and straightforward — no fuss, no mess. An equally important revision is that the technology titan will only provide user information to government agencies, if the requests are backed up by court orders. And just in case you were wondering, this new agreement covers almost all Microsoft consumer oriented services, from Bing, MSN, Outlook.com, OneDrive, Office.com, Office 365 Home Premium to Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Windows Live Mail and, of course, Microsoft Accounts.]]>
