word is that the first of these refreshes is in the internal testing stage at Redmond. As to what it might be called, one guess is Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1, or General Distribution Release 1. Internally, it is being referred to as only GDR. But keeping in mind the fact that the most release update for Windows Phone 8 was renamed from the familiar GDR3 to Update 3, the software titan could also take this approach. In fact, the company changed the names of all previous GDR updates to Update, followed by a number. Either way, this first ever refresh of the mobile operating system is on track for launch later this year. No clear words as to what features it might bring, but rumors on this are probably not all that far away now. Expect to hear more on what Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 contains in the near future.]]>

  • What’s expected in this update? Is there any set in stone information on it? Weird that it’s coming at the end of the month and there’s not tons of information on it.
