The technology titan sure does like to keep SkyDrive up-to-date, and that too on a regular basis. Every once in a while reports pop up detailing the new features and enhancements that are soon to be part of the cloud service.
It seems that a ton of major SkyDrive enhancements are under development right now, at least according to a new (and reliable) report — and all of them are pretty exciting.
LiveSide.net writes that Redmond is currently getting ready to introduce folder mounting to SkyDrive, thereby providing users the ability to quickly access complete directories from their SkyDrive accounts.
A feature like this would allow users to quickly sync all their files to their PCs.
At the same time, Microsoft is also working to introduce device settings backup management, providing users full control over the settings stored in the cloud.
The public preview version of Windows 8.1 already allows users to save settings in their SkyDrive account, and a dedicated option like this indeed comes in quite handy.
And finally, shared file lists are also likely to be introduced soon, providing users of the service an easier way to access specific files that are stored in different folders. Lists are said to be able to hold up to 100 files, all from different locations.
Microsoft is yet to comment on these new features — it rarely does, before it is ready, anyway — but the public rollout of these new enhancements is expected to begin in the next couple of months. That is, a little while before Windows 8.1 hits general availability.
