If you have activated Microsoft Security Essentials as the first (or only) line of defense on your computer, then you will be pleased to know that the program just received a new update.
Security Essentials version 4.4 is now available for download.
The software giant just rolled out a brand new version of its freeware security solution, and in the process has implemented a number of bug fixes to go with the regular dose of performance enhancements for users.
This new version is aimed at pretty much all versions of Microsoft’s flagship operating system, this side of Windows 8 — both the 32-bit and 64-bit flavors of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 are supported by the application.
Detailed release notes have not been provided, but it is safe to assume that the new version comes with fixes to bugs and crashes that users have reported.
And going by the previous builds, it should also come with performance enhancements.
Many users run Security Essentials alongside their preferred third-party antivirus or security solution, meaning a reduced impact on system performance and a lightweight footprint is an absolute necessity for users on older computers.
