Microsoft has sent invitations out for it another Surface event on October 2. The company will hold its next devices and services event in New York City at 4pm Eastern Time at Industria Studios.
And what to expect at this gathering?
A new Surface Pro and a new Surface Laptop are expected, with devices coming with new internals like the newly available 8th generation Intel processors. While we’re at it, we may also get the release date for the Surface Go with 4G LTE, the variants that is almost usually delayed.
There is talk that Redmond has a redesigned Surface Pro in the pipeline, but chances of seeing it out in the open this year are slim to none.
It is a device for next year, alongside the rumored Andromeda.
If it ever sees daylight, that is.
A new Surface Book, and a new Surface Studio are also the talk of the town, but you probably will have to wait until 2019 for their announcement. Just don’t expect the Surface Phone — this October 2 event will be low on surprises, more on practicality.
Aside from hardware, services will be a major focus of this upcoming gathering, including how the devices and services tie together for Microsoft.
In that aspect, we may well hear more about what is coming in the next version of Windows, codenamed 19H1. If anything, this may even be when the company announces the release of the upcoming October 2018 Update.
Not to mention, the company may have more to share on Modern Life Services, which it has had under wraps for quite some time. Development on that front is sure to be at an advanced stage now.
In any case, there is much to be excited about here.
October 2 can’t come soon enough.
