Good things come to those who wait, and few things are better than being able to chat with other people from right within the inbox. The Skype for Outlook.com feature is a popular new fusion of Redmond’s communication platforms.
The service launched earlier this year, but it was a phased launched available in a select few countries.
And now Microsoft has announced that Outlook.com users in North America are now able to chat with their Skype contacts straight from the mail platform. Better yet, the service will soon be available for other markets in the very near future.
The technology titan shared the news in a blog post:
“We believe that your email should work with things you already use. Outlook.com already connects with your Facebook, Skype, and Google friends. Now that you can make Skype video calls from Outlook.com, it’s even easier to stay connected to the people you care about most.”
Microsoft noted that with the addition of Canada and the United States, Skype for Outlook.com is now available in six markets in total, including Brazil, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
This particular service will be soon made available for more countries, the company promises.
Redmond has increased its focus on adding a number of social features to the Outlook.com webmail service, and it is widely expected that similar improvements will be announced for the email service in the coming months.
