shared the details of the close date in a post on the official Microsoft Blog, stating that the deal will help the company with acceleration in growth:
“The completion of this acquisition follows several months of planning and will mark a key step on the journey towards integration. This acquisition will help Microsoft accelerate innovation and market adoption for Windows Phones. In addition, we look forward to introducing the next billion customers to Microsoft services via Nokia mobile phones.”Next billion customers? You’re on! Microsoft is set to acquire not just the Lumia brand, but also the Nokia Asha lineup of feature (and well, semi smart) phones. Redmond will also take control of, and manage the company’s official domains and social media sites for up to a year. A little redesign of nokia.com might well be in order. Interesting times, as they say, are ahead.]]>

You’re right. I saw this too. A huge news story for both companies. It’ll be official soon, so the buzz will be underway starting friday. Microsoft needs to capitalize off the buzz.
It has taken awhile, but $7.2 billion makes sense. That’s a huge contract and agreement to get right. Let’s get this done and keep the collabs coming.
